Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Paulina Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Paulina! Say hi to the original teacher! She has been with Ashlee from the beginning. She started dancing when she was just three years old. Paulina was on the Copper Hills High School Dance Company, and her favorite genre of dance is contemporary. Catch her at the studio teaching jazz/ballet classes! Paulina met her now husband in high school! They have now been married for 14 years and have four kids, three boys and one girl. They also have two dogs, named Loki and Thor, and one cat, cute Bandit. When she was younger, Paulina wanted to be an actor. When she isn’t teaching dance at the studio, she might be working as a Kinder TA at a school or shooting photography sessions. She loves to read, exercise, and play video games (especially Sims!). Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Malisa Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Malisa. Did you know that we have a new teacher this season?? A huge welcome to Malisa! Malisa is our newest tumbling teacher. She started gymnastics at the age eight and quickly realized that she did NOT like the events that included running (Vault in particular). But, boy did she love flying! She switched to just tumbling when she was ten years old. She was on a show team where they were able to perform pre shows for the Jazz and more! She has always loved moving fast! Cross country and tumbling and clogging were her favorite. When she is not doing those, she loves hiking and photography. Particularly together! Fun fact: when she was younger, she actually wanted to be a vet because she love animals. In addition to teaching tumbling, she is also a special education para educator. So cool! There are four people in Malisa’s family and two kitties! Their names are Mufasa and Simba. She has two daughters and married her husband in 2024. Maxwell Studio Staff Spotlight – Lisa Maxwell studio staff spotlight alert – Lisa is The Best!! She takes such good care of us, the dancers, and the parents. She keeps everything up and running, not to mention tidy! Fun fact: Lisa danced for six months when she was little! But she has spent lots of time watching and supporting Miss Ashlee and her grandkids dance. No surprise considering she always wanted to be a mom when she grew up. Her and her husband have been married for, in her words, “40 LONG YEARS on June 1st.” They met when he came into her work to flirt with a girl she worked with. He ended up taking her out instead! She didn’t like him at first, but then he got a brand new car.. All of the sudden he was “very” attractive! They have four kids plus four additional kids (spouses). They have 11 grandkids! She truly believes that being a grandparent is the very best thing about having kids! Grandkids are the light of her life. Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Kourtney Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Miss Kourtney is up! If you’ve taken tumbling or conditioning at Maxwell Dance Studio, chances are you’ve met her! She started dancing when she was three years old. She was on the Copper Hills High School dance company all three years, and she made the SLCC dance company for the 2010-2011 school year. Her very favorite style of dance is contemporary! And she does specialize in tumbling, which she is certified in and so good at! She met her husband in a high school math class that they had together. So, yes, they are high school sweethearts!! So cute! They have now been married for twelve years and have three darling daughters. They also have two family dogs named Lilly and Daisy. As well as teaching at the dance studio, Miss Kourtney is also a Member Advocate for a health insurance company. She loves to crochet, read, and listen to true crime podcasts. Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Julie Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Miss Julie is our next spotlight! She is the most recent addition to our teacher lineup, and we love her! She started dancing when she was 12 years old. In high school, she spent two years on the West Jordan High School drill team. She also joined the SLCC dance company for one year in college. She dances lyrical, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary, and has been teaching for over 15 years. Her very favorite styles of dance are jazz and musical theater! When Julie was younger, she wanted to be an optometrist. Way cool! As well as working at Maxwell Dance Studio teaching dance, she also works full time as the back office manager at Salt Lake Retina. Julie went to high school with her husband, but they didn’t meet until later when they started talking on Facebook. They have now been married for 10 years in May! They have two cute kiddos: a girl and a boy. Fun facts about Julie: she loves elephants, the tv shows Friends and Seinfeld, is obsessed with Mario Brothers, and loves the color green! Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Shaunie Ready for our next Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight: Miss Shaunie! We love helping you get to know our Maxwell Dance Studio staff! Miss Shaunie grew up in West Jordan, Utah. When she was younger, she wanted to be a mom. She also really wanted to be an author and a labor and delivery nurse. Not incredibly out there dreams, right? Turns out, she went a completely different direction and is now a dance teacher and a professional photographer! She likes to tell people that her jobs as an adult are basically her hobbies from being a kid! Miss Shaunie started dancing when she was four years old. She continued dancing on competition teams at a studio and then spent three years on the Copper Hills High School Dance Company. Her very favorite styles of dance are contemporary and jazz. She met her husband while working at a school for kids with severe special needs. Their first born is their 100 lbs. labradoodle Murphey! Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Jen Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Miss Jen! So many of you know and love her, and we’re so excited to share some fun things to get to know her! Jen started dancing when she was 11 years old! She trained in ballet, jazz, hip, hop, and lyrical. She was on the West Jordan High School drill team and was the president her senior year! In college, she also joined the SLCC Dance Company. She has been choreographing and teaching dance for 18 years. That’s a long time! When she was little, Jen wanted to be a dance instructor when she grew up. That worked out well! She specializes in hip hop and jazz at Maxwell Dance Studio, and both are her favorite styles. She also teaches at a private school in South Jordan! Jen and her husband went to high school together, but they didn’t officially meet until after his LDS mission when they were in a singles ward together. They’ve now been married for almost 15 years! Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Liz Next Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight is Miss Liz! She started dancing when she was two at Extravadance dance studio. Starting at the age of five, she joined their competition teams and competed from then clear through 9th grade. From 10-12th grades, she was on the Summit Academy High School drill team and was able to be captain her senior year! She has trained in many styles, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, and tumbling. Miss Liz met her husband Cameron in January of 2021. They officially started dating a month later and spent two wonderful and amazing years dating. He proposed on their anniversary in 2023 (aaaw!), and they were married in June 2023! They just hit seven months! They are currently trying to settle into married life and save money before they grow their family further. She has wanted to be a dance teacher for as long as she can remember! At the studio, she specialize in tumbling, but her favorite styles of dance are jazz and lyrical. Her other career dreams have bounced back and forth from teaching to being a mathematician to working in the culinary field. All such fun choices! […]

Maxwell Dance Teacher Spotlight – Andrea Our first Maxwell Dance Studio teacher spotlight is Miss Andrea! She started dancing when she was just three years old. She actually did gymnastics from 10-13 years old but ultimately went back to dancing. She was on the Copper Hills High School drill team throughout high school and took multiple other dance classes there as well. Her favorite style of dance is lyrical! When she was little, she wanted to be a nurse or doctor PLUS a dance teacher or an Olympic gymnast. Turns out, she got pretty close with those dreams! Not only does she teach dance and tumbling, she also works at a breast care center as a mammo and radiology tech. Miss Andrea met her husband in high school, but they didn’t talk until college. So cute! They have been married for five years and have a son, a dog, and a baby girl on the way. In her spare time, she really loves to read, exercise, go out to eat, hang out with her family and friends, and travel when she can.
